The Worlds of Doctor Who #1
Released: 8 September 2014
Listened: 7/25/20
In 2014, Big Finish released a boxed set for their 15th anniversary of the Doctor Who license, featuring several of their spin-off stories crossing over with the Doctor. Which is kind of funny, because they hadn’t yet received the license to make new-series stories, after which they’d go crazy with the spin-offs, so this collection feels pretty restrained. The focus is on the spin-offs, and the Doctor doesn’t really appear until the end, so technically I should only have the last chapter in this timeline, but I hadn’t listened to them before.
For Jago & Litefoot, this story takes place rather early in their spin-off series. The villain is a hypnotist named Rees who’s performing at Jago’s theater. Rees is played by Jamie Glover, who’d played William Russell in An Adventure in Space and Time at this point, but hadn’t yet played Ian in the First Doctor Adventures, yet his voice is similar enough to be distracting. It seems to be a typical Jago & Litefoot story, in that it’s slightly over the top, and the language is definitely mannered. However, it does all resolve rather easily, and with quite a bit of luck.
