This segment is part of the Gallifrey spin-off, more or less, because instead of trying to carry the plot into the political intrigues of Gallifrey, they just move Leela and Romana to Earth for the duration of the story. And of course, the Sixth Doctor appears, which was Big Finish’s intent because the Sixth Doctor is the one who’s changed the most under Big Finish. Unfortunately, his reunion with Leela, Romana, and Mike Yates is very understated, almost underplayed. And the story itself, unfortunately, is kind of a disappointment, with twists that frankly don’t hold up. Louise Jameson gets to play Leela acting like someone else, which she does effectively, and is no doubt great fun for her. Jamie Glover reappears from the first story, playing a different character that’s supposed to be a secret, but his voice is so distinctive, I don’t know who they thought they were fooling. It’s an unfortunate let-down for the conclusion of the big anniversary story.
