This Short Trips special is unlike most of the stories from this era, but the specials do that sometimes. We meet Jo’s father, Terry Grant, a professional painter and art teacher. Unfortunately, we meet him when he has late-stage cancer. But because Jo’s life isn’t normal, she’s able to make a deal with some aliens to buy more time with her Dad. There isn’t a monster or a baddie in the traditional sense; it’s just time, and what we do with it. It also doesn’t really fit nicely into continuity, but that doesn’t really matter in this case. It’s just a small, personal story.
