This story is a slightly unusual one, in that there’s something strange going on in the English countryside, but it’s not a UNIT event. Instead, Jo goes to help out her cousin, whose husband has disappeared. What follows is a story about alien body-snatching couched in a mystery in a small village. Richard Earl and Alex Lanipekun provide a nice double-act as a pair of Scotland Yard inspectors, not too far off from what Robert Holmes would have written in this same era. The atmosphere of the village is well-played, although perhaps a bit condescending to modern ears. The mystery, though, isn’t all that huge, and the alien’s plan isn’t exactly complicated. It’s a story that doesn’t seem to stick in the mind quite the way you might want it to.
