This Short Trip features Liz, but it’s read by Katy Manning, a mismatch that sometimes happens with early Short Trips. Except for the purposes of this story, Jo probably could have served the same purpose. The Doctor, rather improbably, is persuaded to babysit the Brigadier’s godson Albert, and takes him to the zoo. The Doctor is fascinated by the caged tiger, seeing the obvious parallel to his own situation. Unfortunately, Albert swipes the dematerialization circuit from the Doctor’s pocket, and trouble ensues. But the point is really the Doctor feeling trapped, a fairly obvious point that could have used a bit of Jo’s empathy. Katy Manning does all the voices reasonably well, as we’ll see later in this project.
