Short Trips #2020.4

Released: 8 December 2020

Slightly unusually for a Short Trip, this one tells a full story with a mysterious death. Sarah’s “human angle” investigations turn out to be just as important to figuring out the solution as the Doctor’s scientific approach. Unfortunately, the twist isn’t really hard to discern if you’re familiar with these sorts of stories, and you’d likely expect the Doctor to work it out quicker. Sarah is still relatively new to the Doctor’s company; she doesn’t always know how he’ll react, and she spends a lot of time thinking about how she’s not a normal reporter anymore. As for the Doctor, he seems to still be testing her reactions, and still calls her “Miss Smith” a lot of the time. John Banks reads the story, and does a good job with the voices, although he’s not attempting any impressions. It’s a nice short story for what it is.
