Because this is a multi-Doctor story, it properly belongs to the Eleventh, but c’mon, this is the only proper TV appearance of the War Doctor, so I have to acknowledge it. John Hurt is magnificent in this, being gruff and stony, but also haunted, sad, and oh-so-huggable at the exact same time. And of course this is the end to his story, as he regenerates into Christopher Eccleston at the end.
