Having established that the Doctor is alive and well, Ollistra immediately tries to put him to work, on a commando team with Veklin and two other Time Lords, trying to rescue a Time Lord strategist who’s trapped behind enemy lines. Except that the Doctor doesn’t take orders, and doesn’t do commando missions, so of course he heads off to do the rescue himself, with the others trailing along behind. It’s interesting that in this story, Veklin is dogmatic, short-tempered, and has no idea how to handle the Doctor, yet Ollistra is much more patient with him, nearly amused, and knows exactly how to push his buttons. It turns out that the planet is the same one from the previous story, but 30 or so years later, meaning Rejoice is played by a different actress now. There’s a lot of “middle story” going on here, as things are set up for later revelations, and the pieces get moved into place. It doesn’t really stand on its own very well, though.
