The War Doctor Begins #2.2
Released: 8 December 2021

With this story, we finally get some Daleks to appear in this Time War. Turns out they’re the ones who created the Cyborg Case (not hard to guess), and now they want to know how the Doctor tossed a time bubble over the crashing ship that’s going to destroy the planet. Veklin spends a good bit of time as a Dalek prisoner, fencing with them during her interrogation, and doing pretty well holding up her end, it must be said. Not nearly as well as the Doctor, who gets removed from the story for large chunks by virtue of being knocked out, because that’s apparently the only way to stop him doing whatever the heck he wants. Case gets to operate on her own for a while, more or less coming to terms with what she is, although still wracked with guilt over the slaughter she committed in the last story. The Doctor is still acting pretty Doctor-y, up to a point. He’s really determined to save the population, even though he’s told that would have disastrous consequences. At least, right up until the point where he stops. He seems to give up a bit more easily than other Doctors, which to his mind, is probably the aspect that disqualifies him from the name. He knows he can’t save everybody, and he can’t get bogged down in guilt, so he buries it. Which is still pretty Doctor-y, but that’s where it is.
