Now that we’ve got things established, we can start them rolling. As often happens in Doctor Who, the state of UK space exploration is variable; sometimes matching real-world history, and sometimes more advanced. In this case, Britain is sending space shuttles to orbit the moon in the 90s, which is a neat trick. Except the last shuttle to go didn’t make it back, and it’s possible the accident was a cover-up. At least, astronaut Helena McNamara thinks that, because she died on that mission, and now she’s possessing people on Earth to try to stop the next one. In addition, Helena was a friend of Dr. Rix from when they were in university. Which means Rix isn’t exactly thinking straight on this one. Which would be an interesting character development if we’d already established Rix as level-headed and confident, but she’s been established as a bit of a loose canon. Bambera is growing increasingly frustrated that despite all UNIT’s experience, they always seem to be starting from behind when one of these events happens. No telling where that’s going to go.
