The Ninth Doctor Chronicles #1.4

Released: 4 May 2017

If we can use Adam for one of these narrated stories, why not Jackie? Camille Coduri always seems to be up for a Big Finish. She hasn’t often appeared with the Ninth Doctor, which kind of makes sense, as this Doctor really doesn’t seem to care for her much. In fairness, in this story Jackie rambles a lot (probably to give Coduri more lines), and she’s awfully defensive. Basically, she and the Doctor seem to bring out the worst in each other, mostly because they both think they know what’s best for Rose. In this story, Jackie has become part of a multi-level marketing scheme selling “Glubby Glubs,” which are fuzzy pink eggs that exude a sense of restfulness and well-being. Of course the Doctor is immediately suspicious, which puts Jackie’s back up. Unfortunately, because the eggs have a soporific effect, the story itself seems sluggish. The investigation phase takes too long, probably to give Jackie more to do.
