Time Lord Immemorial

Once and Future #6

Released: 5 October 2023

As if the Lumiat weren't confusing enough as a concept, her first appearance takes place chronologically before her creation. Both the Master and the Doctor are suffering from a "degenerative" weapon, causing them to spontaneously regenerate into previous selves. Except that something has gone amiss, and they're manifesting aspect of themselves from later in their personal timelines. For the Doctor, that gets us the Ninth Doctor. For the Master, it's the Lumiat. The real reason for this is to get Christopher Eccleston and Gina McKee into the same story, as they're both famous for having starred in Our Friends in the North back in 1996. The Lumiat seems rather more unhinged than in her other apperance, but "Once and Future" really wasn't too consistent when it came to characterization.
