Martha Jones

Martha Jones is awesome, and Big Finish haven’t been able to do enough with her, and that’s a darned shame. Why we haven’t gotten a Tenth Doctor & Martha set, I have no idea. What we do have, though, is the only Big Finish spin-off that tells the story of events that were seen to take place within an episode. Between “The Sound of Drums” and “Last of the Time Lords,” Martha Jones walked the destroyed Earth like Kwai Chang Caine, telling people about the Doctor in the service of a plan that was sketchy at best. I can’t imagine any other companion pulling off a trick like that. These are a few stories from the Year That Never Was, which unfortunately means they’re pretty dark, and there’s no real ending, because that happened on TV.
