Following a “present” story and a “past” story, we need a “future” story, so this one sees the Doctor following a distress signal to a planet that’s essentially one giant graveyard for countless different species, without a single living person on it. Except for a robot, who’s not “living.” Except, of course, that all is not what it seems. To say more would be spoilery, but the Doctor gets wrong-footed multiple times in this story, and only wins by relying on someone else’s humanity. I’m not normally a fan of stories where the characters do nothing for years, but this one had me legitimately wondering how the Doctor was going to get out of the situation, so kudos to Timothy X Atack for that. On the whole, this set is a nicely diverse set of stories, all quite strong.
