Closing out the set, we’ve got Ingrid Oliver as the special guest, playing Osgood. Ingrid is no stranger to Big Finish, or to playing Osgood for that matter, so she’s quite comfortable here. And she’s smart enough to keep pace with the Doctor, so he doesn’t really get a chance to be cranky. The Doctor turns up at UNIT to borrow Osgood for a special mission…and it turns out that what he needs are her bureaucratic skills, as he’s trying to stop an invasion by convincing a bunch of civil servants not to do it. Which Osgood isn’t real happy about, but Una McCormack isn’t just going to let it go at that. There’s a chase scene, and some spying, and sabotage, and Osgood needing to act fairly brave, which she does, because Osgood is awesome. We know that she’s companion material, and also that she doesn’t get to be one, so this is as close as we’re going to get. As Ingrid herself notes in the extras, there are plenty of stories hinting that Osgood might get a TARDIS trip, but this is the first time it actually happens.
