In this story, Guy Adams gets his Douglas Adams on. Specifically, he tells a story about conservation, but the narrative style is very Adams-y, with a completely despicable bad guy acting rather nonsensically. The Doctor bumps into Lady Christina deSouza on the plains of Africa. It’s been quite a while for him, but not nearly as long for her. He’s busy rounding up last-of-their-kind creatures from Earth history, because the baddie is trying to kill them. In this particular case, they’re racing to save the last Great Auk. The story is too short for there to be a lot of twists or peril, really, because the baddie is mostly too stupid to be any real threat. There’s also a lot of narration, which cuts down on the dialog time. The main appeal is Lady Christina, and how she feels about the Doctor, which is to say, pretty entitled, but that’s Lady Christina for you. She’s not all that impressive, but she’s not really a companion.
