Short Trips #12.X
Released: 29 December 2022
Listened: 12/29/22
This is the Paul Spragg Memorial Short Trip for 2022, coming out at the last week of the year, which means it’s by a brand-new writer, Nick Slawicz. Like many of them, this story is less about what actually happens, and more about the feelings it evokes. In this case, the Doctor visits an elderly woman, living alone in the 1980s, whose memory is starting to fade, so that some days are better than others. And that’s pretty much it, except that she acts very human, and the Doctor appreciates that. There is, however, just a hint at an unspecified future Doctor. Lisa Bowerman is the narrator, and she does a better job of capturing the rhythms of the Eleventh Doctor’s speech than a lot of other narrators do.
