This one is in fully dark-and-spooky mode, as the Doctor stumbles into a town that’s been menaced by the titular abomination for years, causing the residents to hide in their homes each sunset. Jacob Dudman narrates again, but most of the story is told from the point of view of Malcolm, a young man in the town, so the narration is all done in a Scottish accent, which makes a nice contrast with Dudman’s Ninth Doctor. The story involves a considerable amount of timey-wimey, but in that kind of vague, fairy-tale way that Doctor Who sometimes does, when they don’t want to lean too hard on a scientific explanation. That makes the story atmospheric, but perhaps overly long.
