The Eighth of March #2.2
Released: 8 March 2022
Listened: 5/19/23
This was another one of the Eighth of March stories, and the big idea was that it would put Jenny and Lady Christina together. Which is fine from an outside perspective, as they’re both one-shot characters whom Big Finish has elevated. But in-universe, Jenny operates on a much larger scale than Christina, and they’re not anywhere near each other, geographically. But, fate says they have to operate together, so here we are. Unfortunately, the story is pretty confusing. Jenny and Noah stumble across a base belonging to a corporation in which Jenny somehow owns a bunch of stock, giving her insider access. On Earth, there’s a social media app, stupidly called “OutFace,” which is making people disappear, and is about to do worse. The creator of OutFace is having a party for his wife Alethea, who provided the Siri-like voice of the app, by giving her the world’s largest diamond. Which Christina plans to steal, because she can. And because she went to school with Alethea. To make things even more confusing, another schoolmate, Flick, has become some kind of anarchist and is crashing the party to protest the missing people, and because she once had a thing with Alethea. That’s a heck of a lot of setup, and unfortunately the upper-class women all sound kind of alike, so it’s very hard to tell what’s going on in their part of the story. Not that I think it would have really helped all that much. Jenny and Christina meet briefly, have their mutual appreciation society, and go their separate ways, and that’s pretty much it. I’m afraid the second Eighth of March box doesn’t live up to the first.
