The Twelfth Doctor

The Twelfth Doctor is spiky, grumpy, and hard to get to know. After two rather lovable incarnations, Stephen Moffat wanted to go for something different. So he cast a much older actor, Peter Capaldi, and made him rather uncertain about himself. Although he’s much less friendly, he’s a lot more fundamentally honest, particularly with regard to himself and his place in the world. He’s also the Doctor who changes the most as a result of his experiences, as his costume, his hair, and his persona get more relaxed as the seasons pass. Like Tennant, Capaldi is also a known super-fan, but unlike Tennant, hasn’t jumped at the chance to do Big Finish. Initially he said he didn’t want to consider it until Jodie Whittaker’s tenure ended. Lately, he’s been indicating he’s just not interested. With Jenna Coleman also busy, we’ll have to wait and see what the future holds.
