This story is from the Eighth Doctor's "Ravenous" storyline, which culminated in a three-Master pileup (or four, depending on how you count it). Those who hadn't listened to the River Song story were likely very surprised, especially as Roberts is obscured on the cover of this disc. Of course, that means Roberts has to act with both Sir Derek Jacobi and Michelle Gomez, which is a lot of talent in one room. Missy in particular spends a lot of time enjoying this Master's American accent. Plot-wise, this Master and the Eighth Doctor recognize each other on sight, so there's no need for deception, and the Master can go right to scenery-chewing threats.
