Zero Space

Jenny #1.4: Zero Space

Jenny #1.4

Released: 5 June 2018

Listened: 5/18/23

To wrap up this box, Jenny and Noah find a space station in the middle of nowhere. Literally nowhere, as in an area of space completely devoid of anything, an ideal place to do isolated experiments. With a crew who’s unusually kind and helpful, until they’re suddenly not. Of course the Colt-5000 is here to be a pain, but it’s really not any more effective than it’s been anywhere else. They do manage to ramp up the stakes towards the end, but there’s too much talk about what parents want for their children; that gets hammered pretty hard. Noah shows glimpses of personality when he might find out more about his past. Jenny is still acting like an overcaffeinated gerbil, jumping to every new thing with noisy enthusiasm. Even the Doctor isn’t like that all the time, and I could see it getting very annoying. There’s a cameo near the very end that makes sense, and may make you a little wistful, but it fits nicely. On the whole, the box is “OK not great,” but the care that both Georgia Tennant and Big Finish are taking with this character is readily evident throughout.
