The Power of the Doctor

TV Centenary Special 2022

Aired: 23 October 2022

This episode is the end of Series 13, the end of the Jodie Whittaker era, and part of the BBC’s Centenary celebrations. As such, Chibnall throws absolutely everything at the wall here. The Master is back again, working with Daleks and Cybermen. Dan almost dies, and asks to leave, which he does before the plot even gets going. There’s a lot going on back on Earth, so at UNIT, Kate calls in Ace and Tegan for help. (Squee!) The Master steals the Doctor’s body, forcing her to an interior regeneration-y place where she chats with the incarnations of the First, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Doctors, all looking like their actors currently do. (More Squee!) Tegan and Ace get to interact with AI versions of their own Doctors, settling past differences (Super Squee!) After they win, the Doctor asks Yaz to leave, as her time is ending. (Awwww.) Graham and Dan form a support group for former companions, and invite Yaz, Tegan, Ace, and Kate, as well as Mel, Jo, and Ian! (Mega Squee!) The Doctor has a beautiful, calm, regeneration into…David Tennant? (What?)
