I hope you like trilling, because you’re going to hear a lot of it in this story. The Doctor lands on the planet of the Piir, adorable-sounding mouse-like aliens who trill a lot when they talk. They apparently had a lovely world, existing in balance with nature, until the nasty human colonizers showed up and exploited everything, then left. There’s a human named Preacher Stem, apparently a philanthropist, but actually stirring up class warfare among the Piir. Given his name, he should be another of the Master’s aliases, but he’s not, and that’s never explained. Writer Christopher Cooper gives Jacob Dudman some choice lines in this one, as well as a big old speech about religion or the lack thereof. It really gives Jacob a chance to show off his Eleventh Doctor, and a fine job he does of it too. Except the only thing you’ll remember about this story is the adorably trilling mouse-creatures.
